Client Nurture Email Sequence: How to Stay Top of Mind Until They Book
How service businesses use a nurture email sequence to turn enquiries and past clients into bookings: structure, timing, topics and example emails.
A client nurture sequence is a series of helpful emails sent to people who enquired but did not book, or to past clients, so they remember you when they are ready. Send six to eight emails over one to three months, each answering a real question or sharing a client story, with a soft invitation to book. It suits businesses with longer decisions: law firms, consultants, coaches, dental treatments, software and high-ticket services.
Most people who contact a service business are not ready to buy that week. Without follow-up, they forget you. With a nurture sequence, you stay helpful and visible until the timing is right.
Who goes into the sequence
- People who downloaded a guide or checklist.
- Enquiries that went quiet after a quote or consultation.
- Leads from events and webinars.
- Past clients who might need you again.

|---|---|---|
| 1 | Day 0 | Thanks for getting in touch, what happens next |

| 6 | Day 35 | A useful checklist or tool |
| 7 | Day 50 | Frequently asked questions about price and timing |
| 8 | Day 70 | A direct invitation to book a call |
What a nurture email looks like
Example (law firm)
Subject: What happens at a first consultation?
Hi [First name],
Many people put off calling a lawyer because they don't know what the first meeting involves. Here's how ours works:
We'll listen to your situation for about 30 minutes, explain your options in plain English, and tell you honestly what we think it will cost. There's no obligation to go further.
If you'd like to book, reply to this email or choose a time here: [Book a consultation].
Sarah Mensah, Partner
Example (business coach)
Subject: The one-page plan I give every new client
Hi [First name],
Most of the owners I work with have too many priorities, not too few. The first thing we do together is cut them down to three.
I've attached the one-page planning sheet I use. Try it this week, even if we never work together.
If you'd like help filling it in, I have two discovery calls free next week: [Book a call].
Writing tips
- Answer real questions. Use your sales calls and inbox as a topic list.
- Teach generously. Helpful emails build trust faster than promotional ones.
- One soft call to action per email.
- Sign as a person. Service clients buy from people.
- Stop the sequence when they book, and move them into onboarding emails.
- Respect professional rules in regulated fields such as law and healthcare.
After the sequence ends
Move people to your regular newsletter. If they show interest again, such as clicking a booking link, alert yourself to follow up personally.
For appointment-based businesses, combine nurture with appointment reminder emails. See all six sequences in our email marketing playbook.
